The OSGP Alliance is very pleased to welcome GAZELEC as a new member.
Amsterdam, The Netherlands, 27 October 2021: Within the “GAZELEC Régie”, GAZELEC offers a variety of services to the French community of the “City of PERONNE” including the production and distribution of electricity, gas, water, sanitation, and public lighting networks. In addition, GAZELEC has created its marketing company “Energies du Santerre” that supplies electricity and gas to the remaining parts of France.
GAZELEC, as the network manager, has been exploring flexible solutions, such as smart meters, to address the various new challenges associated with the desire to phase out nuclear energy with minimal financial impact to consumers. GAZELEC decided to use smart meters and AI as a way to optimise low-voltage grid operations and get prepared for PV introduction, as well as managing the grid integration of electric vehicles.
In order to achieve these goals, GAZELEC has chosen the OSGP architecture for its intelligent smart metering infrastructure because it provides them with the ability to manage electricity, water and gas meters. GAZELEC believes that interoperability standards are needed to guarantee innovation in terms of adopting new technologies and open standards as they become available. In addition, protocols must be secure in order to ensure flawless confidentiality of data from the energy users. The digital era brings new opportunities, and GAZELEC is ready to take advantage of this.
By joining the OSGP alliance, GAZELEC is looking forward to working together with other key industry stakeholders to realize the next generation of smart grid leading towards the long-term goals of the smart grid: affordability, security and sustainability.
We are excited GAZELEC is joining our Alliance to help achieve its goals”, says Elly Kreijkes, Director of the OSGP Alliance. “On behalf of the OSGP Alliance, we look forward to collaborating with them, and incorporating their knowledge and expertise in the ongoing development and implementation of OSGP.”
