AEM has selected OSGP technology for developing their new line of smart meters
26 Apr 2021

From its foundation until today, AEM has been recognized both in the territory of Romania and abroad as one of the leading manufacturers and a global provider of electricity and gas meters.

In order to keep up with the demands of DSO’s in the local and wider European markets, AEM has chosen the Open Smart Grid Protocol (OSGP) technology for its proven security, reliablility and interoperability. This will help AEM reach their goal to produce high quality electricity meters, adjusted to the current expectations of the DSO’s, and based on various communication technologies. “I believe OSGP offers best performance, security and capabilities to support the DSO’s in managing the energy transition”,  according Tiberiu Hidi, CEO AEM.

Whether it’s about products, solutions or services, AEM has been generating  new ideas and concepts for more than 40 years. It has been four decades since tradition met innovation, four decades since the first meter came off the production line, which validates the maturity of AEM, a company located in the western part of Romania. The OSGP technology will allow AEM to help utilities make the grid more reliable, robust and efficient, meeting the high reliability standards that utilities currently require.

In order to guarantee innovation in terms of adopting new technologies, AEM has chosen

the OSGP protocol for its safety and efficiency of communication and to advance the development of new functions and services related to more efficient and sustainable management of energy.  A growing number of meter manufacters have recently selected OSGP technology for its reliability, as more tenders require performance guarantees.

AEM is a manufacturer of SMART metering devices for electricity and gas as well as AMR and AMM systems for the management of electricity and gas. The company continuously increases its product portfolio, adding at the same time, the concept of integrated solution, adapted for the specific need of the client, thus facilitating the penetration on new external markets. Aiming for quality results in all activity fields is a core value for AEM.
