Renewable Energy Power Purchase Agreements

LIVE ONLINE COURSE OVER 5 SESSIONS
Commences: 3 August 2021

Overview

Practical models and techniques for analyzing & structuring, drafting, and negotiating Renewable Energy PPAs for bankable green investments in today’s competitive energy markets

In the global marketplace of 2020s, both developed and developing economies urgently need to master the key techniques and models for transforming to renewable generation while strengthening the reliability of new energy markets and systems. These focus on adapting and negotiating the latest models for Renewable Energy Power Purchase Agreements (RE PPAs) and on rapidly attracting new private investments in renewable energy sources. Unlike past fossil-fuel based Independent Power Project (IPP) models that featured standardized take-or-pay contracts – today’s renewable energy markets demand more innovative incentives to attract RE supply, conform to RE generation availability, ensure power system reliability, as well as more attractive and sustainable mixtures of fuel sources. Government power sector strategies are now struggling to choose among different practical incentives for new private investments in the renewable technologies including solar energy, wind power, bio-mass incineration and mini-hydro investments.

This interactive 5 sessions workshop will provide clear explanations of the new models of Renewable Energy PPA risk allocation, of ensuring project bankability, of allowing RE generators to compete in energy markets and power pools. Case Studies will include real examples from Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and North America.

Benefits of Attending

  • Best practices from international case studies of successful RE PPAs to avoid common pitfalls
  • Direct the legal design of RE PPAs based on your own company’s risk profile and corporate goals
  •  Lead strategies for the design and regulation of new competitive electricity markets to attract renewable private power investments
  • Develop clear incentives for bankable private investments in renewable energy generation
  • Environmental, social & governance (ESG) impact mitigation techniques to ensure sustainability
  • Manage successful renewable power project finance transactions

Are European Grids Smart Enough for the Future?

Free Webinar

10 August 2021 | 11am–12pm CEST | Webinar Language: English

A wave of change is approaching – regulation and legislation, locally generated renewable energy, electric vehicles, increasing need to engage the customer, consumer’s interest in their energy supplier’s green credentials, security and reliability of the energy supply, smart city and smart home. All these, and others which we may not yet fully anticipate, will change the role of the smart grid, from being a passive power distribution infrastructure to an active and agile broker of energy flows. Distribution System Operators as well as utility companies are facing new challenges.

In the webinar, you will learn what tasks need to be solved from the perspective of a utility in order to remain competitive. These include European harmonization of the grids, the issue of Redispatch 2.0 and the necessary nationwide smart metering, without which the smart grid cannot function.

In the second part of the webinar, the OSGP Alliance focuses on smart grid threat detection and cyber security because deployments of smart meters and other smart infrastructure dramatically increase the attack surface exposed to threat actors.

During the webinar participants can submit their questions to get them answered by the experts in the live Q&A. In addition, both the recording and the speakers' presentations are made available to all registrants after the webinar.

Electric Vehicles & the Grid

LIVE ONLINE COURSE OVER 3 SESSIONS
Commences: 31 August 2021

Overview

The essential guide to opportunity and risk within emerging EV charging value chains

Even without the rapid growth of EVs, our current power systems are in the midst of a disruptive transition towards cleaner, diversified and more flexible structures. If a transition from internal combustion engines (ICE) to electric vehicles (EVs) is to be achieved, what will be the impact on these systems? What are the barriers to scale and which solutions (and hence market opportunities) will be essential?

This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the multi-sector issues that must be understood and integrated, plus the competitive battles ahead, including: technology status and trends, management of electricity demand & supply, charging network players and competitors, consumer behaviour influences.
