OSGP Alliance looks back on successful EUW 2016!
Two weeks ago, OSGP Alliance was among the exhibitors at the European Utility Week 2016 taking place in Barcelona, Spain. We look back on a successful show and we would like to share some of the highlights with you.
On Monday, November 14th, prior to EUW, OSGP Alliance organized a pre-conference workshop. During this informative seminar, the vision of OSGP Alliance was shared with the audience. There were several speakers, including Mark Ossel, Board member of OSGP Alliance, who presented information about the future needs of the grid. Jaroslaw Babs, Senior Application Engineer at NES, explained to the attendees details about the OSI layers, Standards and Specifications involved in the OSGP Application Layer Protocol, and Emil Gurevitch, an industry Security Expert, presented information on OSGP Information Security and Data Protection. After the various expert presentations, a lively interactive discussion with attendees followed on smart grid standards and related developments in the market.
The EUW exhibition opened its doors on Tuesday, November 15th and, during the full three days, the OSGP booth was well attended by interested potential OSGP members and prospective customers of OSGP based smart grid solutions. The OSGP Alliance booth was a success in large part due to the booth sponsors. The Alliance is very grateful for the great support they received from their sponsors, One Nordic, ETM, Greenbird and Develco. Also, the Alliance offers a very special “thank you” to its Platinum Sponsors Networked Energy Services (NES) and Mitsubishi Electric for their extensive contributions and efforts. We are very proud to have all these companies among our members!
The OSGP Alliance held a well-attended cocktail reception on Tuesday afternoon at EUW in a relaxed atmosphere, which offered a great opportunity for people to meet with their peers. During the reception, we were announced the newest member of OSGP Alliance, Poland’s Tauron Dystrybucja. We are honored that their company joined our association and we look forward to incorporating their knowledge and expertise into the development and implementation of value added OSGP services.
On Wednesday, November 16th, the annual OSGP Alliance dinner took place, this year in a typical Spanish restaurant. During the evening, the new secretary general, Marie-Louise van Rossum, was introduced by Bo Danielsen, chairman of the OSGP Alliance. Together with Michael Andersen, CEO of NES, Bo presented the 2016 OSGP Alliance awards. Winner of OSGP Best Security was Vattenfall Tauron Dystrybucja won for Best Interoperability Performance for Multi-Vendor Solution, SEAS won for Best Security Collaboration and Landskrona Energi won for Best Pilot Implementation. We would like to congratulate all of the winners once more!
Looking back on the event, OSGP Alliance is pleased with the outcome and we are already looking forward to next year’s European Utility Week, which will take place on 3 – 5 October, 2017 in Amsterdam.
